Imagine you host a gaming session and one guest brought a friend along without asking. Usually you are cool about it but now you are six gamers and your group wants to burn some neurons over a deep strategy game rather than a social party game. But which strategy game should you play then?
This is actually a tough one. There are only two strategy board games among the top 50 board games on boardgamegeek that play best with six players .
Game | BGG Rank | Playing Time | Weight | Weight/playing time |
Twilight Imperium (Third Edition) | 23 | 180 − 240 | 4,2 | 2,00 |
A Game of Thrones: The Board Game (Second Edition) | 41 | 120 − 240 | 3,6 | 2,00 |
Both of these games are pretty heavy and thus suited for gamers who like to burn some neurons. Twilight Imperium is the heavier and longer game among the two. Both board games have exactly the same weight / playing time ratio.
If you don’t mind very long and heavy games and if you are into sci-fi themes then Twilight Imperium should be right up your alley.
Whereas if you prefer midweight to heavy games and a bit shorter playing time and especially if you are into the TV series then the fantasy board game A Games of Thrones is an excellent choice.
